FINDING BALANCE

I love taking on new challenges. Whether it's tackling a new DIY project, writing a new song, working on a manuscript, re-arranging the furniture in our apartment or writing this blog post for you guys--I can't help myself from trying to conquer the world in just one week.

Let's face it, trying something new gives me a reason to wake up every morning. But with that being said, living on the edge(wink* wink*) often leads to the occasional burnout which usually leaves me in a state of disappointment and frustration...

Can I get a show of hands?

The truth is, I probably suffer from what some of you might call the Martha Syndrome(Read Luke 10:38-42).

I often find myself in a state of being overly occupied and too busy, that I get so distracted with the countless tasks on my to-do-list, and forget to attend to equally or even more important priorities.

To be fair to 'Martha' and people like me who often fall into her category, we truly are the productive ones; am I right, or am I right?

As visionaries, we have great ideas and run with them. We are the types of people that everybody wants to hire because we get the job done.

The only problem is that we tend to overwhelm ourselves with countless projects at the expense of missing out on spending quality time with our families, or taking care of ourselves.

And worst of all some of us end up losing out on spending quality time in God's presence. Oh Boy!!!!! Well, at least for me that is the case.

Seriously, it seems like a never ending cycle. But, guess what? The cycle ends here and now! Say it with me. "THE CYCLE ENDS HERE AND NOW!"

Although it took me actually burning out to realize that I needed to slow down and re-adjust my priorities, I am so glad that it happened sooner rather than later.

Maybe I'll miss out on a few opportunities, by leaving the rat race, but I have come to realize that choosing what is necessary and not what is expected or popular(for my well-being and that of others) is a lot more important in the end.

As elementary as this may seem, our lives need balance. Spirit, soul and body. So if like me, you happen to be struggling with fatigue, simply shut everything down and get some rest.

Same thing goes with our relationships or our spiritual, physical, and emotional well-being. If there are areas that are lacking, attend to them and bring them back in alignment.

I know it's easier said than done, but Jesus did tell Martha that she was concerned about too many things, and Mary had chosen what was necessary.

Meaning that like Mary, Martha also had the power and the ability to make the right choices. So ultimately, what we choose to do with that power is entirely up to us.

And yes! it's going to take quite a bit of practice and constant reminders but finding balance is absolutely worth the effort.

I hope you enjoyed reading today's post. Please share some of the areas where you need to find balance in the comments down below, and I hope to see you again next time.

Much Love XOXO,
