When I gave birth to my daughter in 2014, I had no idea that like my husband, she too was going to have a skin condition called ECZEMA.
Although, I had seen people with eczema in Zambia before, I didn't have the slightest clue as to what caused it or whether it was curable or not.
Dealing with my daughter's condition helped me to better understand it, and motivated me to find ways to treat it effectively.
According to MedlinePlus.gov, Eczema is a term for several different types of skin swelling. Eczema is also called dermatitis. Most types cause dry, itchy skin and rashes on the face, inside the elbows and behind the knees, and on the hands and feet. Scratching the skin can cause it to turn red, and to swell and itch even more.
This is true for both my husband and daughter. So to treat it, I decided to experiment by using different bath and body products.

During infancy, Bella's Pediatrician recommended Dove beauty, white bar soap and Hydrocortisone cream to treat her flare-ups.
These two products worked very well together.
The dove soap acted as a moisturizer without stripping her sensitive skin of it's natural oils, while the hydrocortisone cream got rid of any inflammation and itching.
I used these two products in the first two years of her and decided to switch to a moisturizing and soothing cream after she turned two.
After having experimented with quite a few products, I discovered the Equate Eczema Soothing Cream, which happens to be an impression of the famous Aveeno, Eczema Therapy Cream. But, for about $2 less, the Equate soothing cream does just well of a job as the Aveeno brand.
It acts as a soothing, moisturizing, and skin protectant cream. It is also paraben and fragrance free, which is ideal for anyone with sensitive skin.
I have noticed that Bella hasn't experienced any flare-ups or skin irritation since I started using this product. So, I have no reason of changing up her skincare regimen any time soon.

Please be advised that the products that I am recommending are my own personal preferences, and should not be taken as the standard treatment for eczema.
However, there is no harm in testing them out to see if they will actually work for you as well.
I would love to read some of your recommendations as well, so please feel free to leave your comments down below.
Thank you for reading today's post. XOXO
