SETTING GOALS RIGHT IN 2018

It's 2018, and the majority have already started setting new goals and resolutions for the year. Whether you are one of those who are already working on your goals, or you are still trying to figure out what you want to achieve this year; the bottom line is, we all need to put a plan in place.

I will be honest with you that goal setting was such a headache for me in the past--from being too vague or even worse, too general about what I wanted to achieve; the end result was always finishing each year without achieving any of my goals.................

After doing some research and actively implementing what I had learned for the past two years, I have finally discovered a plan that works. Disclaimer: The plan that I am going to share with you isn't considered as the best way of setting goals, but it is very effective in getting results if you follow it and stay consistent...........

Now Let's Begin!

1). SET ONLY 10 GOALS FOR THE YEAR

Most of us go overboard when it comes to making New Years Resolutions or setting goals for our future. I admit that writing 20-50 goals for myself made me feel like I was reaching for something. But, the reality is that setting too many goals can become overwhelming, and most of us give up in the first couple of weeks of setting our goals because they are way too many to combat. So my advice is set at least 7 to 10 of the your most important goals that you would like to achieve this year. That will give you room to work on each one of them.....

2). MIX YOUR GOALS UP

This simply means that you should set simple goals with more challenging ones. It's a lot harder to achieve your goals when they are all very difficult, because challenging goals take quite a bit of time to achieve. So if you are spending all your time trying to work on your crazy big goals, your success of achieving them all in a short period of time is highly unlikely. Mixing simple goals with more challenging ones will allow you to get the easy ones out of the way first, so that you can focus on the more challenging ones, and hopefully achieve them all by the end of the year.....

3). BREAK YOUR GOALS DOWN

Setting big goals is great, but you need to take it a step further by breaking them down into smaller goals. Let's take weight loss for instance: You could be thinking of shedding 50 pounds by the end of the year. So what does that translate into in terms of your workout routine and eating habits. If I were to break down 'losing 50 pounds' into smaller and more realistic goals, it would go as follows:

General Goal: Lose 50 pounds by the end of the year.

Monthly goal: Lose 4 pounds every month.

Weekly Goal: Lose 1 pound every week.

Workout Regimen: Work out for an hour, three times a week.

Food Plan: Eat 1500 calories everyday.

Drink 8 glasses of water everyday.

Add food rich in protein and fiber to every meal.

The plan above is an example of breaking your goals down, But, obviously, you'd have to make adjustments to fit your requirements or preferences.

4). GO OVER YOURS GOALS AND PRAY OVER THEM

Lastly but not least, look over your goals as often as possible to keep them fresh in your mind.

In the past, I would write my goals down and put them in a drawer and never review them. By the end of the year, I would have forgotten about what I had written down, and as you may all already know, none of them were achieved. So going over them and praying over them, makes them a priority, and when something becomes a priority, it's easier to commit to and bring to fruition.

That's all that I had for you today. Please let me know if you found this post helpful in the comments, and of course, your honest feedback is definitely appreciated. Until next time, God bless!
