It's not everyday that you hear about a success story from someone who comes from a low income background in a third world country. But I am not your average dreamer. I tend to reach for dreams that one would consider way too big for me to handle.... I would like to share my story.
I grew up in a society where success was determined by the amount of money and assets that your family owned, the type of education that you got, and the amount of influence that your family had in the community.
My family was considered as a low-average income earning family. Even though my parents worked their hearts out to ensure that we got a good education and had everything that we needed, there were certain things that seemed like they were out of reach--moving overseas was one of them........

We had heard stories of Cabinet Ministers, Business Owners, And high earning Corporate Managers send their kids overseas to study, and that was normal for them.
So you can only imagine the shock and fear that my parents experienced when I told them that I wanted to do my studies overseas after I graduated from high school.
I was only in 10TH grade at the time, and making such a daring declaration was unheard of.
We had nothing physical to show for it, except for one thing that I believe is even more tangible than anything that you can see or touch, FAITH! And because we had faith, I knew that what was just an idea in my head at the time, was going to become a reality one day.

So for five years of doing research, sending in applications, getting visa rejections, and hitting dead ends, I kept holding on to what I believed I was meant for.
Sometimes the road was extremely rough and bumpy, that I felt like giving up. I was ridiculed for a having a dream that seemed impossible for someone of my caliber, and the odds of me failing were more prominent than those of me succeeding.
To be honest, I cried most nights because I felt that I was way in over my head, and my circumstances proved me right.
But there was an unquenchable fire that burned deep down on the inside. And it would not let me settle for anything less than what I dreamed of. My desire to break out of my boundaries and reach for something greater than what I already knew, became so consuming that leaving my past behind was all that I could think about.
Through effectual and fervent prayer and countless pep talks my dreams became so much greater than my fears that I could almost taste them. I saw myself making my bed in my college dorm room in the United States long before it ever became a reality.
I made friends with students with different accents from mine in the invisible long before the exact same friends manifested in the visible. And I gave thanks in advance for something that I did not have physically.
I had my mind made up, and that is all that I needed to keep me focused. Yes it seems unusual, but making up my mind about what I wanted gave me the push to become the person of my dreams....

Approximately 8 years later, I am here in my parents' American home writing to you about something that seemed impossible at least 10 years ago.
Why am I sharing this with you? I am doing it because I know that many of you are going through situations that are contradictory to the outcome of your hopes and dreams.
And I understand that sometimes giving up seems like a better bargain compared to the hardship that you would have to endure to achieve your dreams.
If there is anything that I would like you to take from this post; It's that you should NEVER GIVE UP!
No matter how big or small your dreams may be, or how difficult they may seem to accomplish, NEVER GIVE UP!
When feelings and ideas of quitting arise, they simply serve as a reminder that you are that much closer to your breakthrough. So KEEP PUSHING, KEEP FIGHTING FOR YOUR DREAMS, AND KEEP BELIEVING until the impossible becomes possible.
I am going to share the details about the miracles and obstacles that I faced during the process on my YouTube channel, so keep your eyes peeled.
I hope that you enjoyed reading this post and more importantly, I hope that your faith has been given a boost this week, and has given you the courage to fight for your dreams.......
